A successful conference on corrugated board was organized on the 26^th of June in Lodz by our publishing house within the Academy of Knowledge. Many guests, who were primarily the producers of corrugated board and packaging, as well as the users of these products (eg Ikea), listened to the providers of technology for producing corrugated board and packaging. The presentations concerned various printing technologies: digital, flexo and offset, and software solutions for packaging design, processing cardboard, communicating colours or managing the entire production process in a printing house. The producers of the presented solutions were: Apex, Bobst Polska, Esko, Flint Group, Heidelberg Polska and HP.

Atlas Converting Equipment Ltd. received an order for a Titan ER610 compact slitter rewinder from Heukäufer Folien GmbH during the drupa 2012 exhibition held in Düsseldorf, Germany from 3rd to 16th May. The company is located in Herten, north-west Germany and will install the new slitter in a new, purpose-built production hall during August this year.

RISI, the leading information provider for the global forest products industry, today announced a high risk of closure for over 2 million tonnes of the 7 million total tonnes of newsprint capacity in North America over the next 5 years. These closures as well as 2.5 million tonnes of shuts in Western Europe and over 1 million tonnes in Asia will become necessary as newsprint demand declines across the globe, according to the recently released Global Newsprint Risk of Closure Study.

Hong Bo Hao Tian Technology Company Limited (Hong Bo) has chosen the drupa 2012 show to place an order for two new Goss M-600 web offset presses. The presses, which will be installed into a brand new printing facility currently under construction in Beijing, China, were chosen for their proven efficiency and print stability.

On 1 March last year, KBA and Chicago-based R. R. Donnelley & Sons Company (RRD) announced that they had entered a collaborative alliance to develop, manufacture and launch new digital printing systems. 14 months later the product of this alliance – the RotaJET 76 – was received with interest when it made its debut at drupa.
