KAMA at interpack

At the interpack processes and packaging exhibition, KAMA GmbH is presenting the first flat-bed finishing die cutter in the world for size B3 sheets, a machine which has been specially developed for the digital printing market.

The machine manufacturer from Dresden is being shown the feature-packed ProCut 53 F in hall FG.15 at the stand of Hewlett Packard, the global leader for digital printing.

With pinpoint accuracy, the ProCut 53 F finishes the sheets printed on the HP Indigo 7500 with combined hot foil stamping and embossing, applies cold embossing and Braille embossing, as well as die cutting and creasing the printed packaging blanks. The result is high-quality cartons folding with additional visual and tactile features.

“In the process, machine changeover times are uniquely fast the – changeover from hot foil stamping to cuttingcreasing takes just 10 minutes. With its wide range of applications and fast changeover times, the ProCut 53 is highly flexible and perfectly positioned to meet the trend for finishing in the packaging market”, explains Marcus Tralau, CEO of KAMA. In particular the increasing number of low-volume, personalised print runs can be efficiently processed and finished. This opens up a whole new range of sales opportunities for companies using the machine, for example for packaging for luxury products or lifestyle products, including perfumes, cosmetics, luxury foods and branded accessories, as well as for vouchers or coupons and wine labels.

For hot foil stamping, the output of the ProCut 53 F is up to 4,500 sheets per hour, while it can handle up to 6,000 sheets per hour for die cutting and creasing tasks. The compact finishing die cutter is compatible with the HP Indigo 7500 and Indigo 5500 digital printers, but also can process conventionally printed sheets up to format 530 x 400 mm.

As an option, the versatile ProCut 53 can also be equipped with a specially developed hologram stamping system. This additional equipment with dedicated controller, motor and special register mark scanners applies 3D-effect holograms and security elements which – in addition to their decorative aspect – are also in demand as a brand protection feature to prevent counterfeiting and product imitations.
