Akon Appointed As Dealer of Top-Line basysPrint UV-Setters in Poland

basysPrint announces its commitment to fully serve its Polish customers through its partnership with Warsaw-based dealer, Akon. Akon is offering basysPrint's next-generation UV-Setter Series 460x and 860x as well as the VLF (Very Large Formats) Series.

"Akon is a first-class dealer with solid experience working with printers to find effective business solutions and build long-term relationships. Our customers expect to save considerably on consumables cost and make a big step in quality improvement and productivity. Through our partnership with Akon, we can help them achieve this," comments Jenne Smit, basysPrint Sales Manager Europe.

“We are pleased to be partnering with basysPrint and representing their UV-Setter Series – which have been very well received so far,” says Konrad Fedyna, President of Akon Company. “For 16 years we’ve served medium-to-large sheet-fed and web offset printers, offering products that provide significant cost savings and improvements in quality and productivity. With the full line of basysPrint UV-Setter 460x, 860x and VLF Series available through our dealership in Poland, we look forward to continuing that mission.”

The company already delivered the first basysPrint system – a basysPrint UV-Setter 865x-B – to web offset printer ODDI Poland. "We were very pleased with this installation. The new basysPrint UV-Setter 865x-B is a flexible, highly productive system that can provide high-quality output with lower production costs, thanks to the advantages of UV plates. Our customer was convinced by the quality, accurate imaging and cost-efficiency of this system. And they are already reaping the benefits of reduced costs and consistent, reliable production," comments Fedyna.

The basysPrint UV-Setter Series 460x and Series 860x offers users the choice of exposure resolutions of 1500 dpi or 2400 dpi. The unique flatbed design enables digital imaging of a wide variety of plate sizes – from formats as small as 200 mm x 200 mm up to a maximum of 940 mm x 1150 mm with the 860x. The unique dual-plate loading option also provides the flexibility of loading and imaging two plates at the same time. This allows the system to image up to 145 plates per hour, significantly improving productivity.

"The modularity of these UV platesetters means that our customers' investments are always secure. Even when starting out with the basic manual version, they can easily upgrade to either a semi-automatic or fully automatic system as business changes dictate. The new models also offer the possibility of manual operation on fully automated versions," comments Smit.

Flexibility was at the heart of the design specification of basysPrint’s family of VLF UV-Setters. Capable of exposing plates from 200mm x 200mm up to 1.485mm x 2.100mm, the VLF Series is the only product currently available on the market capable of handling these range of plate sizes. The optional flEXpo (Flexible Exposure) functionality offers customers the possibility of loading and unloading one 8-up plate (or smaller) while simultaneously imaging another 8-up (or smaller) plate, improving productivity. The VLF Series is ideal for print companies with very high plate consumption and comes in three models: Manual, Semi-Automatic and Automatic.

As with all basysPrint UV-Setters, the 460x and 860x Series and VLF Series offer all of the inherent benefits of UV-plate technology. These include a stable, easy-to-maintain process with wide processing tolerances, ensuring consistency of exposure quality. The chemistry used in the processor has an extremely long lifetime – in some cases more than three times longer as compared to digital plates. UV plates are known for their high run-length stability, even without baking. The chemistry used for processing UV plates is also environmentally friendly; it is a low-alkali, soap-like solution that can be safely poured down the drain.
